For most of us, the festive season is a time of joy. But there are children in the UK who face a Christmas without food, warmth or love. At Action for Children they are working to change this. They’re asking the public to become a Secret Santa for a vulnerable child this Christmas.

In the last decade, life for many vulnerable children has reached breaking point. The number of children in the UK living in poverty has risen to 4.1 million,1 the equivalent of nine children in an average school classroom of 30.2 More and more families with children are falling into crisis, no longer able to afford the basics due to low wages and damaging benefit changes.

Action for Children runs over 476 services in local communities across the UK, helping 387,000 children every year. Day in, day out across these services they see children who are hurting. They support children who have suffered abuse, young carers and those who are homeless. These children won’t know who it was that made sure they were fed, or that they felt loved, but you’ll know that you’ve made their Christmas that little bit brighter.
